Our
Perspective
Social Sustainability is becoming an essential element of corporate strategy
In the last decade, many organisations have focused on and made strong progress on ensuring the sustainability of their businesses. But most of the effort has gone into the environmental footprint, and how that can be addressed.
The social aspect of ESG has received less focus. Even where there is a social plan, it is often more about compliance, and the well-being of employees, than about the potential strategic benefits of addressing the impact of the business on society and the opportunities to gain strategic advantage by improving those.
The team at ELP believe that many organisations can and should find ways to leverage their products and services to do social good. And we believe that sustainability – the right to remain successful in the 21st Century – will require organisations to demonstrate that they are not just suppliers at a price, but rather that they are in the business of finding ways to give people and communities access to their products, services and expertise for the good of society.
We work with senior management teams to surface this thinking, and to assist in embedding it into their strategy and their plans. Our team all have expertise and experience in both the social and commercial sectors, and are driven by a vision of the commercial sector playing a critical role in addressing disadvantage and inequity.
Our Services

1
Social Discovery Workshop
The Social Discovery Workshop is designed specifically for executives aiming to align their company's strategies with broader social goals. During this intensive session, leaders will come together to deeply analyse their organisation’s aspirations toward social sustainability, uncovering the areas most pertinent to their business. This workshop offers a unique platform for executives to engage in meaningful dialogue, assess current initiatives, and collaboratively chart a strategic path forward. By focusing on actionable insights and shared learning, the workshop ensures that participants leave with a clear understanding of how to integrate social sustainability into their core business strategies, thereby enhancing their company's impact on society.

Ideation and Opportunity Prioritisation
The process of generating ideas for corporate social sustainability begins with a creative ideation phase, where team members collaboratively brainstorm innovative ways to address social challenges through the lens of their business operations. This stage is designed to cultivate a wide array of possibilities, which are then subjected to a rigorous prioritisation framework. This framework evaluates each idea based on criteria such as impact potential, alignment with company values, resource availability, and scalability. This structured approach ensures that the company commits to sustainable actions that are both impactful and aligned with its long-term strategic goals, thereby maximising both social and corporate value.
Measurement and Evaluation Services
The design of measurement and evaluation systems for social impact initiatives is a critical step in ensuring their effectiveness and sustainability. This process starts with identifying key performance indicators (KPIs) that are relevant and meaningful to the specific initiatives undertaken. Careful consideration is given to what should be measured, including both the direct outcomes and the broader impacts on the community. Specific metrics are then developed, tailored to capture the nuances of each initiative, and appropriate data collection methods are established, whether through direct monitoring, surveys, or partnerships with local organisations. Additionally, the process incorporates a robust reflection and learning loop, enabling ongoing evaluation and iterative improvements. This continuous feedback mechanism helps refine both the measurement tools and the initiatives themselves, so they adapt over time to maximise social impact.
